Reflection One

I have to say that getting to this moment where I'm writing my reflection has been humbling in that it has reinforced that I am not tech savvy! I made my first website using Google Sites, and it was a lot easier. I have stumbled at every turn creating this current website; it has been a rather steep learning curve. But, I am proud of myself for prevailing and getting to this point! I learned that when it comes down to it, I have a resolve to figure things out and be patient with myself. I hope I can continue to draw on this reserve of determination and patience as I continue to work on this website.

Reflection Two

Since I'm a creature of habit, I'm still having difficulty figuring out how to best navigate Wix. The issue I'm encountering with Wix is that there are too many options! I'm sure the plethora of options is good for most people, but for me, it's a bit overwhelming. For instance, I spent well over an hour just now on the images alone for my Outside the Classroom page. I also realized that I need to figure out a better way to store all of my pictures. I have a number of pictures I wanted to use for my Outside the Classroom page, but I couldn't use them because they are on a different computer and I was too lazy to figure out how to transport those pictures onto this computer--laziness combined with my lack of tech savvy. Ugh! For now, I am having to remind myself to have a growth mindset about this website--that it will be easier next time and that I'm learning as a result of every misstep I make. ;)

Reflection Three

I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of using Wix. Today, I learned how to create a box consisting of a solid background so that I can write text that's easier to read. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to do this, but I did it! As with most things, I'm seeing that using Wix is about practice makes perfect.

Reflection Four

Today, I learned the importance of peer review. I could tell that I was exhausted by the process of creating this website and that I wasn't looking at it with a critical eye. So, I asked my husband to give me constructive criticism, and he gave me great suggestions that led me to change the color scheme for this entire website. Before his suggestion, I was using a blue and black color scheme. He pointed out, though, that by relying on black and blue, my website made it look like I was shilling for Microsoft (and, just to be clear, I am not. If anything, I am an Apple supporter--ha ha), so based on his input, I changed the color scheme to more of a burgundy tone. I also tried to incorporate some burgundy on each page of this website so that it would have a more cohesive overall look. I don't know if I succeeded, but I tried!
